For the first photo I think the composition could be improved. Also, it is a little dark and could brightened. Maybe add another light source to the shot or use a wider aperture.
I think your interpretive photos are good. They could maybe be improved if we can see what he is holding. Looks like a candle which could be an added symbol.
Lastly, for your document photo I think you have achieved the blank background. There are minute distractions such as the shadows to the left and from the subject's head. My only critique would be to shoot with more even/diffused light.
